Lisa Schmidt

School: West Texas A&M
Hometown: Canyon, Texas

Pronews 7, 6 and 10 anchor Lisa Schmidt is a homegrown gal who spent her childhood in Canyon. She graduated from Canyon High School and WTAMU. Always a flair for the dramatics, Lisa made her first appearance on KVII in 1999 as a spokesperson for “The WB at WT”—a series of commercial spoofs promoting West Texas A&M University. That taste of television had her hooked, and once she received her broadcasting degree, Lisa joined KVII fulltime. Since then she’s worked her way from one end of the station to the other--producing, reporting, anchoring, and even working behind the scenes as Creative Director. Not a fan of boredom, Lisa also has a day job. She’s a fundraiser at the Panhandle Office of the National MS Society, helping raise money to bring us closer to a world free of MS. In her downtime, you can find Lisa hanging out with her husband, Nick, and their dogs Bogey and Jack. Or you might find her trying her hand at something new--she recently completed her first half marathon, she dabbles in jewelry design and she’s learning to upholster. Lisa also has a deep appreciation for all things Mexican food, sushi, movies, music—and especially her favorite band, the Old 97’s.
