School: West Texas A&M University
Hometown: Canyon, Texas

Pronews 7's 5 & 6 anchor Lisa Schmidt is proud to be from the Texas Panhandle. She grew up in Canyon, graduated from CHS and received her broadcasting degree from West Texas A&M University.

As a student at WT, she made her first appearance on KVII in 1999 serving as a spokesperson for "The WB at WT" a series of commercial spoofs promoting the university. That taste of television had her hooked and once she graduated, Lisa joined KVII fulltime.

Since then, she's worked her way from one end of the station to the other--producing, reporting, anchoring, and even working behind the scenes as Creative Director. You may remember her feature segments "Neighbors" where every week she threw a dart at a map of Amarillo and within that vicinity found an interesting person to feature and "One Tank Trips" where on a tank of gas she hit the road featuring fun travel destinations across our area.

Lisa now anchors and reports on life as a parent in her special segment "The Practicing Parent." She's been practicing it since 2011, when she and her husband welcomed a precious baby boy into their lives.

Lisa is proud to serve as a board member of the National MS Society and works hard raising money to bring us closer to a world free of MS. Additionally, she helps to critique the student-run newscast at her alma-mater, WT.
