Jay Ricci joined the Pronews 7 news team in October 2003 as Anchor of the 6 and 10 newscasts with Cara Correnti. Jay has been a broadcast journalist for almost 40 years, since graduating from the University of Michigan in 1973. Jay was born in Pennsylvania, and spent most of his early years in Michigan. But he got to Texas as soon as he could - he's been doing TV news in the Lone Star State since 1983, and in Amarillo since 1995. Jay believes giving back to the community is part of the job - he's done volunteer work with organizations like Coffee Memorial Blood Center, the Junior League, United Way, The Bridge, and the Children's Miracle Network. He and his wife Sharon live in Amarillo. They have two children, Alli and Mark.

This year's threat from H1N1 has caused a lot of us to re-think going anywhere sick. And that's caused some schools to re-think their traditional year-end perfect attendance awards. A number of them are eliminating it for 2009-2010.
