Girl Scouts USA 99th Birthday Celebration
“Badges & Patches” will be the theme for the upcoming Amarillo area celebration of the 99th birthday of Girl Scouts USA.The event, sponsored by the Alumnae Association of the Amarillo Region of the Girl Scouts – Texas Oklahoma Plains Council, invites all adults who were ever Girl Scouts in any council to join all currently registered adult Girl Scouts to celebrate the history of their Girl Scout sorority on Girl Scout Sunday, March 6, 2011. Women are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite badge or patch and to bring their badge sashes from their troop days.
The reunion will take place at the Amarillo regional council office at 6011 SW 45th from 2PM to 4PM.
The event begins Girl Scout Week, which goes through Girl Scout Sabbath on March 12.The Alumnae Association hopes to perpetuate the Spirit of Girl Scouting across its living generations, as established by their founder Juliette Gordon Low when she officially registered the organization’s first 18 members in Savannah, Georgia on March 12, 1912.To RSVP or get additional information, contact Kaki McDuffie at the Council office at 806-356-0096 or by e-mail to kmcduffie@gs-top.org. -30-
