ALT Presents David Mamet's "American Buffalo"

Amarillo Little Theatre is very pleased to present American Buffalo as the fourth and final Adventure Space production of the 2010-11 season. From acclaimed playwright David Mamet, this play was hailed as “Best American Play” by the New York Drama Critics Circle in 1976-77. A classic tragedy, American Buffalo is the story of three men struggling in the pursuit of their distorted vision of the American Dream. By turns touching and cynical, poignant and violent, American Buffalo is a piercing story of how people can be corrupted into betraying their ideals and those they love. The cast includes Allen Shankles, who is moving from his director’s chair to the stage for the first time in several years. He is joined by ALT veteran actor Don Washburn and Travis Johnson, who is making his debut on the Adventure Space stage following a great role in Is He Dead? Artistic Direction is by Kim Shreffler with Melanie Sanders as Assistant to the Director. Performance Dates are March 31, April 1, 2, 7, 8, 9 at 8:00 pm and April 3 & 10 at 2:30 pm. Rated R for Strong LanguageAmerican Buffalo promises to be a “thrill ride” of gritty and dramatic theatre. Make your reservations for this terrific show today! ALT audiences are also encouraged to attend the Hastings Ovation Series talk-back session immediately following the performance on Sunday, April 3. It’s a great opportunity to explore the themes and ideas of this production. Tickets are available at the Amarillo Little Theatre Box Office at 2019 Civic Circle or by calling (806) 355-9991. Tickets may also be reserved by e-mailing jeff@amarillolittletheatre.orgFor additional information, please contact Allen Shankles.
