Every year there are more than 500,000 documented cases of child abuse, abandonment, & neglect. In Texas alone there are over 70,000 reported cases yearly. These children suffer needlessly at the hands of those who should be protecting them. As a result, they are removed from their home & placed in the foster care system; sometimes for years. Currently there are not enough homes to provide a safe haven for these children & teens.
The Bair Foundation is the result of the vision of Bill Bair. In 1967, Bill felt lead by God to take foster children & teens into his own home and from that humble beginning from a small, rural town in Pennsylvania, our ministry has spread into eight states and thirty-four offices. Last year nationally, The Bair Foundation served over 5,000 children & teens.
As large as the agency has become; it is still not large enough. "There is always the need for more foster parents," states Tammy Williams, Director of the Amarillo office. "I encourage anyone who has a heart for children to consider foster parenting," she adds.
There are three ways to become involved in helping these children and teens.
(1) Become a foster parent
(2) Become a respite provider (part-time foster care)
(3) Consider making a donation of toys, clothes, or even money – 100% of the donation goes to the children and is tax deductible. The Bair Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.
The Bair Foundation is proud of our foster parents and would like to encourage everyone to consider helping. "Foster parents make a real difference," states Tammy , "and how often do we get a chance to make a real difference in this world?"
