NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - A Christmas Day winter storm warning for Oklahoma and Arkansas stretches from far western Oklahoma to northeastern Arkansas and the National Weather Service says up to 10 inches of snow is possible in some areas.

The weather service says 4 to 8 inches is possible in most of the region with the heavier amounts in the Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas and in northeast Arkansas.

Precipitation is expected to begin early Christmas Day in western Oklahoma as a mix of rain and sleet before changing to snow during the day as the storm moves eastward and out of the region late Tuesday.

The weather service says roads will likely become slick and gusty winds of 30 miles per hour or more could create near "white out" conditions that limit visibility.
