Hundreds of sledders and tubers hit the hills at Medi park
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- As area schools closed their doors, "Snow Day" became a magical phrase for families. Hundreds of thrill seekers hit the hills at Medi park in Amarillo to enjoy some snow day sledding.
"The kids had two extra days off, the snow is hard, cold, and crisp, it makes for perfect sledding and snow fun," said Scott Owens, who was out with his family sledding.
"I thought it was going to be real fun today, because yesterday we had a snow day, and we have two other days of no school," said Sean Owens, Sledding on snow day.
It was an unusual site for Amarillo, but we even found snowmobilers out playing in the snow. For the most part, families we spoke to were just happy to have an extra day or two to play.
"Oh they've had a blast, they were praying for snow, it's been great," said Ellen Dunn, out sledding with family.
According to sledders we spoke to, Medi park is the most popular and best location for sledding here in Amarillo.
