AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Update: The lockdown at Mesa Verde Elementary has been lifted. As a precaution, the campus will have a controlled entry and an extra security presence for the remainder of the school day.

Amarillo Independent School District officials have confirmed that Mesa Verde Elementary is on lockdown as a precautionary measure.
Officials say two parents of a student at the elementary were involved in a domestic dispute off campus at a location across town at 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning. Corporal Jerry Neufeld with the Amarillo Police Department confirms that incident. Telling Pronews 7 officers were called to the 7300 block of Fleming on shots fired. Cpl. Neufeld says no injuries were reported from the incident, but did confirm shots were fired at that location during a domestic dispute.
AISD officials say no threats against the school or students have been made, but say the lockdown will remain in effect until The Amarillo Police Department finish their investigation.
