CANYON,TEXAS -- Facebook has become one of the biggest social networking tools in the world.

In Canyon, it's being used to try and save a big piece of the city's history.

The facebook site to save Tex Randall, the giant cowboy standing right off Highway-60 in Canyon, was created a few days ago and it's taken off since. Over eleven hundred people are on the page, posting messages about supporting Tex and giving their two cents about what he means to them.

Tex's owner, Danny Byrd, says they're looking at different ways to restore him, and he thinks the facebook page may make that come true.

"Absolutely theres a 1,000 people logged on and at least their raising awareness, probably not all of them will contribute monetarily but hopefully we can get enough people to get good ideas and figure out what to do with it."

Tex has been a landmark in Canyon for fifty years, and facebook supporters would like to see it stay another fifty years.

If you would like to donate to restore Tex Randall, contact Danny Byrd at 806-236-8988.
