Amarillo Police have released additional information regarding the suspicious deaths from the weekend.

Sunday evening, officers were sent to a home at 3908 Justin to meet family members who had discovered two people dead inside the home.

Officers found the husband and wife deceased on the floor of their bedroom. Police say, Darren Gene Moore, 37, and Kristi Marie Moore, 40 both appeared to have gunshot wounds to their heads. A large caliber automatic weapon was also recovered in the room. Police also say there were no signs of forced entry or signs of a struggle or fight in the home. The house was secured when officers arrived.

Justice of the Peace Clay Houdashell ordered that autopsies be performed on both Darren and Kristi Moore in Lubbock on Monday.

At this point the Special Crime Unit is actively investigating this case.

"Right now we are not looking for anybody outside the house. However, I'll leave that open a little bit just because somebody could have been invited in there and then left and locked the door or something on the way out. So, I'm hoping the preliminary autopsy results will give us a little bit more information," said Lt. Gary Trupe with the Special Crime Unit.

Police also say they had been called to the home earlier in the day on a welfare check, when the couple failed to keep dinner plans with family members. But officers were unable to gain access inside the home at that time.

Darren worked for a local family owned pharmacy and Kristi worked as a counselor for the Amarillo Independent School District.

Anyone with information about Darren and Kristi Moore is asked to call the Special Crimes Unit at 378-9468.
