FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) — Two Farmington High School teachers have been booked on warrants charging them with providing alcohol to minors after they threw a birthday party for their daughter where dozens of teenagers were offered beer and Jell-O shots.

Edward and Orla Fincher turned themselves in at the San Juan County jail Monday.

Investigators say at least 50 students attended the Sept. 11 party to celebrate the birthday of a 17-year-old Piedra Vista High School student. Deputies learned of the incident a day later when a girl who attended the party claimed she had been illegally detained.

Sheriff's Lt. Dwayne Faverino says the Finchers took car keys from youths who drove to the party, detaining them if they believed the teens were too drunk to drive.
