AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Center City's annual Block Party bash is back this weekend on Polk Street in downtown Amarillo.

"We expect to have between six to eight thousand people...and intend to go rain or shine," said Beth Duke, Center City Executive Director.

The yearly event turns Polk Street into an all day party, complete with food and live music.

"27 live bands, five stages, VIP area," said Duke, "all that music for only $10 if you get your tickets in advance."

This years entertainment features Panhandle favorites like AJ Swope, along with some new-comers.

"One of our big goals is to bring people downtown," said Duke, "all these great Polk Street restaurants are gonna be open during block party, it's a chance to sample and see what you're missing."

Proceeds raised by the event will go to rennovating downtown. Tickets cost $15 at the gate, but can be purchased in advance online for a five dollar discount.
