AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Tri-State Fair and Rodeo is officially open to all. But as many of us know, all that food and all those rides can be expensive.

There's no hiding the fact, that we all splurge when it comes to those fried food delights. Needless to say, it can add up and fast. But officials say it's all about managing your time and priorities.

The smell of funnel cakes, cheese on a stick, corn-on-the-cob, and all those other fried food delights are filling the Tri-State Fair and Rodeo grounds. It's enough to make the strongest of healthy eaters cave-in. But for those pinching their pennies, how expensive is the fair?

"For anyone 13 and over, its $10.00 a day and then for the kids six to twelve it's $5.00. Five and under it's free of charge," said Angela Ragland, Sponsorship/Marking Director of Tri-State Fair and Rodeo.

For an average family of four, add in those admission fees, parking, food, and ride wristbands, you're looking at spending around $200. Add in games or buying things from vendors and that price can go up to $300. But the beautiful thing is, every night there are special deals and discounts including Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday being student night.

"Most families spend between four and six hours with us. So if you put a pencil to that and divide that out you'll get a good value for that dollar that you've spent. And we've got lots of different offers with our coupons and we've got students coupons," said Ragland.

If you're just looking to catch a bite to eat, lunch time is the best time to go, helping cut down on those expenses with no gate admission. "Monday through Friday we have lunch and we don't charge until one o'clock. so the business community or others out there are welcome to come and join us for lunch. We have a stunt show, we've got The Rhinestone Roper, we've got the shark show, we've got a banana derby".
