LUBBOCK --

Lubbock prosecutors and attorneys will be discussing a possible plea deal in a homicide of a Lubbock doctor.

Amarillo physician, Thomas Michael Dixon, is facing capital murder charges for the death of Lubbock Doctor Joseph Sonnier III.

Prosecutors are alleging that Dixon hired, David Neal Shepard, to kill Sonnier.

The motivation for the murder plot is because Sonnier was dating a women that was Dixon's ex-girlfriend.

According to court documents, Dixon paid Shepard in silver bars. Each bar was valued at $3,000.

Negotiations are set for January 24 for the case against Shepard.
