AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Saturday morning at 1:45 a.m. Amarillo Police observed a traffic accident at the intersection of Bushland and Western.

After the accident an officer reported that one of the vehicles involved was leaving the scene and that they would pursue the vehicle. After chasing the vehicle for a short time, officers deployed spike strips to deflate the tires of the vehicle at the intersection of Tascosa Road and North Coulter.

According to a news release from Amarillo Police Department, the vehicle eventually came to a stop in the 900 block of north Western.

Vanessa Theresa Crawford, 32, was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident. Crawford initially gave authorities a false name. She was taken into custody and later booked into the Potter County Correction Center for evading arrest/detention using a motor vehicle, failing to identify and leaving the scene of an accident.
