CLAUDE, TEXAS -- There's some good news from Claude, where thanks to a generous donation, a combination library and fieldhouse are near completion.

It's benefiting not just the school kids, but the entire community. It's this week's Region 16 Spotlight on Education report.

The Richard and Leah Morris Memorial Library was created after the family donated a substantial amount of money to the city and the county.

It's been a two year process involving the City of Claude, Armstrong County, and the school district, which answered the call to help maintain the library and fieldhouse for years to come.

"I said, let's come up with a library and fieldhouse. We can work together our county, city and our school. And I just think it really shows how small-town people can really come together, come up with an idea, look for the greater good of the whole community," said Toby Tucker, Claude ISD Superintendent.

That's the idea. The library won't be just for the school's use, but for everyone in the area.

"This library is also set up with a little classroom type area that our kids can actually have a class out here, or if our community wants to have a meeting out here," said Shay Christian, School Board President.

"A lot of people talk about the school, but they don't really get to be in the school. And now our community and our kids are interacting together," said Tucker.

The Morris donation has led to building a state of the art library. It will have a few used books, but new ones are on the way, along with kindles, and flat screen TV's.

The fieldhouse is equipped with flatscreen Tv's as well, lockers, showers, and medical area.

The community will get a chance to see the library and fieldhouse next Saturday, July 14th. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony, right after the Caprock Roundup Queens Beauty Contest.
