Do you love to play basketball with your friends? Are you planning to have your own basketball system installed in your driveway or backyard? Well, you simply need to buy a basketball hoop and a good basketball and you are ready to enjoy your favorite sport. But before planning anything with regards to basketball goals or basketball systems you need consider many things, such as

Know where to install the basketball hoop

Usually people prefer to install the basketball hoop in their driveway. If you are also planning to do so just make sure that there is enough space for the hoop. Also there must be enough space for the free throw line. And if there is space for a three-point line, nothing like that. Also make sure that installation of a basketball system is allowed in rented apartment if you are living in one or the whole investment will go waste.

What type of basketball hoop you are planning to buy?

Basically basketball hoops come in two different types -portable and in-ground. Both have their own features and advantages. An in-ground basketball hoop is a better choice for those planning to buy something permanent and safe. However, depending on location and space a portable hoop is a better deal for those who are planning to invest in something that is not permanent and flexible enough to be carried along with them whenever required.

Other things to consider while buying basketball hoop

1. Backboard

The backboard of a basketball must be of good quality so as when a basketball hits the backboard, it should neither fall straight down and nor should it bounce out over the player’s head. Thus, a backboard should be made of good, thick acrylic for perfect bouncing. A cheap backboard can even lead to head injury.

2. Rim

For personal use, a heavy duty reflex rim is the right choice. This type of rim comes in a break-away style which adds to the portability element of the basketball goal. For a durable rim make sure that it is mounted onto a steel plate and it must not be directly attached to the backboard.

3. Pole

It is better to invest in high quality steel pole that won't crumble easily and will give you better service. Look for a pole with a smooth base as bolts sticking up from the base can become the reason for injuries. Also check the padding used on the pole to avoid getting injuries when the game gets rough.

4. Net

The quality of basketball goals depends a lot on the quality of the basketball goal net. A low quality net on your basketball hoop can get ripped, get shredded or hang half-way off the rim which sure can affect the overall mood of the game.

The bottom line is that you must buy a basketball hoop or basketball goal that meets your requirements. But never buy low-grade basketball equipment as purchasing a basketball system is a quite big investment in itself. Only a good quality basketball system can serve you for years.
