We've all heard the saying, "sticks and stone may break my bones, but words will never hurt me". Unfortunately, that's not always true. Wednesday kicked off the start of the Special Olympics nationwide "Spread the Word to End the Word" campaign that focuses on encouraging people to stop using the R-word, "retarded".

The Amarillo Police Department (APD) released Tuesday that its Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program has been a success so far. CIT is a group of officers who have received advanced training in how to appropriately handle situations involving people in a mental health crisis.
