AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Despite the tough job market, Amarillo College is doing more to help its students be more successful when it comes to finding internships or jobs.

The college recently opened it's new Career and Employment Services Center. Now, former, present and prospective AC students will have access to help with building a resume, interviewing skills or even tips on dressing for success. Full-time employees with the center will be on hand to offer career counseling and other job advice. Students will also have access to computers where they can log onto an online job board and find postings for job shadow opportunities, internships and even job postings from local employers.

The new center also teamed up with Workforce Solutions. One Workforce Solutions employee will be housed at the center full-time to provide local labor statistics and information on the job market.

"We want to decrease any barriers the student might encounter while they're either going to school or getting ready for that next step into their career," said director for the center, Renee Burnam. "But we also have the partnership with Workforce Solutions who will provide labor statistics, so a student can come in and they're not sent to several different places," she added. "It's a one stop shop."

Amarillo College's Career and Employment Services center can be found on the first floor of the Lynn Library on AC's main campus.
