AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Black Friday is quickly approaching, building up the anticipation of yet another holiday shopping season.
Stores across the Panhandle are stocking up on merchandise and hiring extra help to get through the next few months.
"We actually have a lot of merchandise- we're frontloading a lot of that merchandise right now," Target Store Team Leader Jamie Chumbley said. "We're stacking it up to the ceiling in our stock room. The night before Black Friday, we will fill the floor."
Black Friday is just one of many busy shopping days during the holiday season, giving store employees a taste of the crowds to come.
"Black Friday sets the pace for the next four to five weeks of holiday shoppers," Chumbley said. "So, a lot of people are waiting and they save their money for the specials coming up for Black Friday. And we pretty much pick up from there until Christmas."
Like Target, some stores offer pre-Black Friday sales and specials, hoping to appeal to the people who do not want to fight the Black Friday crowd.
"We try to capture some of those guests starting four days prior to the Black Friday ads," Chumbley added. "So, we have a really good ad and special going on for that. And that helps alleviate some of the people that don't want to be in here with the mad rush on Black Friday."
Target will announce its Black Friday store hours on Monday, Nov. 12.
