The Amarillo Convention and Visitor Council is looking to bring 66 conventions to the Amarillo area in 2013.

Dan Quandt, Executive Director of the Amarillo Convention and Visitor Council say they want local residents to help bring organization or events to Amarillo.

The goal of the Council is to bring these new groups or events that will bring overnight guests to the city.

"The two biggest reasons are because convention business is good business for all of Amarillo," Quandt says. "And because we are all proud of this area."

According to the ACVC these kinds of event bring in 50 to 5,000 people who also spend money in the city.

"So this is an initiative where we can get all of amarillo really involved, helping us bring more business to amarillo," said Eric Miller, Director of Communications, "helping us boost the economy of amarillo."

The ACVC has many reasons to bring conventions and events to Amarillo, one of the reason is the professional staff will help from start to finish.

The members of the ACVC offer services from compiling the initial bid to convention services and publicity.

Amarillo hosts between 70 to 80 conventions each year, including the Baptist General Convention, World Championship Ranch Rodeo and the Dequaine Select American Quarter Horse Association World Championship Show.

The Amarillo Civic Center is a large space with over 400,000 square feet of space. Amarillo has over fifty hotels and motels with over 6,000 choice rooms.

The Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport offers all jet services. Amarillo also has many activities and things to do and see year round.

The Amarillo arts are available in the winter and there are many well-known summer attractions.
