AMARILLO -- More bad luck for one of the world's most famous poker players.
Thomas Preston, better known as "Amarillo Slim", was assaulted and robbed Tuesday night in Amarillo.
Police say officers were called to the Comfort Inn & Suites at 2300 Soncy on reports of a robbery.
80-year-old Preston reported that he was robbed in the parking lot by a white male described as being in his late 30's.
The suspect assaulted Preston by striking him in the head, before taking a ring and cash.
Preson suffered minor abrasions, but did not require on-scene medical treatment.
In October 2006, Preston was almost robbed at gunpoint in the 1000 block of SW 32nd in Amarillo.
He told police that a vehicle cut him off, and a suspect got out and pointed a gun at him, demanding money.
Preston said he refused and drove away.
