AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Many cities and counties across the Texas Panhandle are applying for grants from the United States Department of Justice, the grants are funded by the federal stimulus package. The money would have to be used to hire additional personnel for area police departments and will be given to the cities over a three year period. The following is a list of the cities that have applied for the grants.
