BORGER TEXAS -- The following information is from the Borger News Herald and was written by Brooke Huff
As the fourth of July approaches, people are sure to be making their plans for shooting off fireworks to celebrate the holiday. This year, however, the Hutchinson County Commissioners Court may make some fireworks illegal inside the county. At their regular meeting on Monday morning, starting at 9:30 a.m. in the Hutchinson County Courtroom, the court will consider and/or approve adopting a burn ban and an order restricting the sale or use of restricted fireworks in the county. After approving the minutes from their previous meeting and the payment of bills, the court will also consider and/or approve adopting or readopting the Hutchinson County Tax Abatement Policy Guidelines and Criteria, as well as consider and/or approve a lease agreement for hangar #28/28a at the Hutchinson County airport with Otis McClellan and Dwight Rice. Other action items include the consideration and/or approval of employee time sheets; consideration and/or approval allowing the County Clerk to put records on the internet through ACS (Texas Land Records); and the consideration and/or approval of a mutual loan/display/storage agreement with Wesley Willis for displaying the museum's building signs in his front window and inside.
One matter that has received a lot of attention lately is the demolition of Weatherly School/South Campus. At Monday's meeting, the court will address the matter. They will discuss any reasonable options for a cooperative demolition plan with BISD in order to save the original portion of the building that has been recommended for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
Personnel matters the court plans to address include consideration and/or approval to allow the Sheriff's Office to transfer funds to purchase a vehicle; and consideration and/or approval of the disposal of any obsolete office equipment. They will then consider and/or approve the sale of any struck-off properties, as well as consider and/or approve any requests for the use of the library clubroom or Aluminum Dome. The court will also consider and/or approve any line item changes, transfers, and/or budget amendments; consider and/or approve the advertising, opening, accepting or awarding bids; and consider and/or approve any donations to Hutchinson County. Before hearing reports from elected/appointed officials, the court consider and/or approve the payroll. Following reports, they will discuss any action relative to executive session, held during their May 26, 2009, meeting. The County Commissioners and County Judge Faye Blanks will also give reports regarding matters being handled in their respective offices.
