AMARILLO, TEXAS -- We are working hard to answer all of your questions from our Town Hall meeting in Borger.

One viewer asked about the Texas Department of Transportation's Budget, and how employees are being affected.

TxDOT Spokesman Paul Braun said that employment numbers for the Amarillo District have gone down, by about seven percent within the last two years.

We took your question straight to the top, and asked. TxDOT's Executive Director, Amadeo Saenz for his thoughts on the issue, and he says even though TxDOT has $2 billion less than usual for projects, the current employment level has been funded.

"The legislation did give us enough money to allocate our staffing needs," Saenz said, "we are looking at staffing, they've asked us to look at staffing within the allocation to determine if the staffing we have and the work that we're doing is cost effective or if we need to look at another alternative."

Braun did say that the employment is down in TxDOT Amarillo, because of attrition, not because people are being laid off.
