AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Rep. Warren Chisum from Pampa will be honored today for a historic program to bring more doctors to the Panhandle.
Amarillo Mayor Debra McCartt will also present the Legislator of the Year Award.
Chisum will be presented with a special white doctors coat to symbolize his leadership on a landmark bill to address the shortage of primary care physicians.
The new Physician Loan Repayment Program is expected to attract 900 new doctors to Texas over the next 4 years.
