TULIA, TEXAS -- A fire started in Tulia just before 10 a.m. No one was injured but the Dollar General and a neighboring warehouse burned to the ground. Three other downtown buildings, including a beauty shop, received smoke and water damage.

Fire Marshals from Lubbock are on the scene investigating, but no official cause has been determined.

According to Tulia Mayor Pro Tem Ross James, "it was a very, very hot fire. Flames were shooting 50 ft. to 80 ft. up in the air at times. I assume the merchandise possibly in Dollar General was creating the heat."

Volunteer fire departments from Tulia, Kress, Nazareth, Happy, and crews from Canyon all helped put the fire out by noon.
