(AP) -- SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Friends and governmental colleagues are remembering former Gov. Bruce King as a model of integrity who defined the art of grass-roots politics in New Mexico.

King lies in state in the Capitol Rotunda. His two sons, Gary and Bill King, greeted people on Friday as they paid their respects to the three-term Democratic governor.

Senate President Tim Jennings, a Roswell Democrat, called King the people's governor.

Gov. Bill Richardson placed his right hand on King's draped casket and later gave King's sons a New Mexico state flag. Richardson said King represented the best of New Mexico politics.

King died last week at age 85.

Former President Bill Clinton is to attend King's funeral Saturday in Moriarty.
