AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Families who've lost loved ones at war may find it hard this holiday season but the Snowball Express is here to help.

The Snowball Express, a four day trip provided by American Airlines is bringing those families comfort.

The project and the airlines fly families to U.S. destinations at no cost and arrange activities for the entire family.

This year, the Houseal family of Amarillo lost their hero and father Major Matthew Houseal, leaving behind his wife and six kids. They caught the snowball express to Dallas this morning.

Teresa Houseal, Dr. Houseal's 13 year old daughter, said, "Its nice to know that somebody still cares, after a couple months people start to fade away and think that we are ok but we are not, we are still adjusting."

Once there, they will be guests at a Dallas Cowboys game, along with other family activities that will be part of a surprise package that Snowball Express put together.

Luzma Houseal, Dr. Houseal's wife, said "It's going to be hard, but its good to let the kids know that it's ok to have fun."

They'll be back home on the 13th.

ProNews 7 wishes them a safe and fun trip.
