AMARILLO, TEXAS -- There are hundreds of dream cars at this weekend's Make-a-Wish car show, but one particular car is a not only a dream come true; it's a make-a-wish granted. Oscar Olvera had his wish granted; a makeover of his 1979 Cadillac Sedan Deville.

Oscar has been fighting a hard fought battle with a rare blood disorder which recently led to the removal of his spleen. As Oscar battled through, he had Make-a-Wish by his side.

"Whenever they first came to my house they were absolutely great, very patient with me, gave me lots of ideas and all, but the first thing that came to mind was my car," said Oscar Olvera.

He saw past the dusty old caddy stored in a garage and covered with cob webs. It has sentimental value to the entire family, especially Oscar. After a year apart, Saturday he was re-united with his car.

"It was amazing when I saw it, and I'm just so thankful that I got this car because it has a lot of value to me sentimentally," said Oscar.

Dozens of local companies and volunteers helped with the makeover. It included a sweet sound system, rims that Oscar picked out, a fresh paint job, and even incorporated the original interior.

"We just really hoped it would be what he really wanted, and just the look on his face when he opened his eyes; to see that excitement was just really what makes our jobs most important and most awesome," said Lilly Walker, Make-a-Wish.

Oscar not only has a beautiful new ride, but a car that fulfills a dream.

The Make-a-Wish car show is the largest fundraiser for the local chapter. They raised over 73-thousand dollars last year during the show.

Locally, Make-a-Wish has granted over 11-thousand wishes since 1984.
