DALHART, TEXAS -- Three people are in jail tonight for allegedly setting a police car on fire in the Texas Panhandle. Police tell us that they are behind bars thanks to the help of the citizens.

Police say, last month an officer was at home when he heard something outside. The officer went outside to see what was going on and saw his squad car going up in flames. Police launched an investigation but say that a citizen came forward with information about the incident. It was that information that lead to the arrest of the three suspects.

Police arrested 18-year-olds Oscar Gomes and Kyle Bolton, along with 21-year-old Winston Barnes. Police said the suspects have openly admitted to setting the police car on fire. Officers say they will present charges of engaging in organized criminal activity and arson to the District Attorney.
