AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Three schools were locked down and according to police on the scene the fugitive situation in the I-27 and Georgia area started in Carson county.

DPS officers pulled Raul Rojas AKA Ignacio Balderas over, took him into custody for a parole violation of narcotics out of Colorado, and were going though the finger printing process at the DPS office on Georgia in Amarillo when he escaped from their custody.

More than 14 APD Units DPS and air support spent the next four hours looking for Rojas.

Rojas was found right around 2:00 at 3410 South Austin street and taken into police custody.

During the lockdown this afternoon, we received a lot of calls from viewers asking why you were not allowed to pick up your own kids during that time.

We checked into, it and got the answer from AISD, their parent crisis guide says specifically "Entrance to a campus during a lockdown procedure is restricted to the police only.... Allowing anyone from the outside to enter would nullify the lockdown procedure."
