AMARILLO, TEXAS -- John Sharp, who is running for U.S. Senate, is spending time in the Texas Panhandle today.

Sharp is running for the senate seat expected to be open when Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison resigns.

Hutchison is running for Texas Governor.

Sharp said, "I look forward to seeing my West Texas friends, listening to their concerns, and asking for their support in this important race." Sharp has meetings scheduled in Dimmitt at 11:30 this morning and at 6:30 tonight in Tulia. The Tulia meeting will be held in the Swisher County Farm Bureau located at 127 SW 2nd Street.

Sharp is a former state representative, state senator, chairman of the state's energy agency and Comptroller of Public Accounts.
