AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Some sad news from the Amarillo art scene, Mardy Lemmons, a very popular artist and instructor at Amarillo College died unexpectedly at the age of 50.

Lemmons was known for his nude oil paintings along with a body of figurative works.

A celebration of life service will be held during the first Friday art walk November 6th inside the Sunset Center. The service will be held at one of the North galleries from 5 - 9 PM. Several of Lemmons' paintings will be on display.

Lemmons had participated in the Amarillo Museum of Art's annual 12 X 12 art show and fundraiser event just this past week.

Pronews Seven's Billy Loftin, interviewed Mardy and shot video of his show at the 806 Coffee House back in 2007, and to pay tribute to Mardy we have posted that entire video feature, just click on the video camera icon.
