The City of Amarillo Health Department will be having a mass H1N1 vaccination clinic on Wednesday, November 18th. The clinic will run from 6:00am to 6:00pm at the North Exhibit Hall at the Amarillo Civic Center.
"We have approximately 1,900 doses of H1N1 vaccine that we need to deliver to our priority groups that cannot access the vaccine elsewhere. Our plan is to vaccinate those who need the shot in an efficient and professional manner; as quickly as possible," states Matt Richardson, Amarillo Public Health Director.
The vaccine is voluntary, and free of charge. Seasonal flu vaccine will not be offered at this clinic.
Based on limited quantity, the vaccine will be provided to the following priority groups as recommended by the CDC (Center for Disease Control).
Priority groups include:
Pregnant women
Caregivers of children younger than 6 months of age
Health care and emergency medical service workers
People between 6 months and 24 years of age
Adults between 25 - 64 years of age with chronic health conditions.
