The holidays can be an especially hard time for our troops who are serving our country. That's why Congressman Rodney Alecander is asking that we remember them as we prepare for the holidays here.
The Army Times reports that the Congressman is asking residents to send holiday mail to ensure that troops and veterans receive heartfelt wishes during the holidays.
From now until December 7, Alexander says residents are invited to send cards with personal messages of gratitude and holiday cheer. The American Red Cross and Pitney Bowes Inc. will then deliver the cards to military bases, hospitals, veterans' hospitals and other locations.
Last year, the Holiday Mail for Heroes program received about 1.4 million cards.
