SANTA ROSA, N.M. (AP) - Authorities have closed Interstate 40 at Santa Rosa while officials clear a pileup that involves at least four tractor-trailers.
State highway officials say the roadway is a sheet of ice.
Motorists also are discouraged from travel on I-40 from the Guadalupe County line to Tucumcari because of the icy roads and extremely foggy conditions that have limited visibility to one-tenth of a mile in the Newkirk area.
Difficult driving conditions are reported on Interstate 25 from Glorieta to Las Vegas, N.M., and north to Watrous.
Crews are plowing, salting and sanding the roads.
