HOUSTON (AP) - A Houston teacher caught on a cell phone video beating a 13-year-old student is apologizing.

Sheri Lynn Davis says she's "without excuse" for her attack on Isaiah Reagins at Jamie's House Charter School, a Houston-area alternative school.

She says she's "very regretful" and "sorry that this incident has ever occurred."

Davis made a brief statement to reporters Friday but declined to answer questions at the advice of her lawyer. Attorney Chip Lewis says he's not talking about the particulars of the attack but that "there is a lot more to the story, about what was going on there at that school."

The boy's mother Thursday filed a lawsuit against Davis and the school.
