AMARILLO,TEXAS -- The search for an alleged robbery suspect ends when police find him hiding out inside a port-a-potty.

The search for James Wiley Taylor began when officers received a call around 5:15 Saturday morning regarding a robbery at Toot-N-Totum at 2300 N. Dumas.

According to the employee, the suspect opened the drawer to complete a transaction and the man reached over the counter, took some money from the drawer and fled. A witness saw the man drive away in a white 2004 Dodge, and was able to get a tag number.

Later that same morning around 6:15 officers received a similar call about a suspect matching the description of the previous crime. The second robbery happened at the Toot-N-Totum at 1701 S. Eastern in what was said to be a strong-arm robbery. A witness at that robbery reported the same vehicle as being involved.

Forty-five minutes later an officer checking the Toot-N-Totum at 1300 E. 10th saw the suspect vehicle near the store and began following it. The officer tried to stop the vehicle near IH-40 and S. Arthur, and the driver wouldn't stop. The officer chased the vehicle south on Arthur, then west on SE 27th. The suspect blew a tire and then drove north into the 2400 block of S. Buchanan. He then hit the curb and a speed limit sign, he then took off on foot.

Around 7:25, officers searching the area found 41-year-old James Wiley Taylor hiding out in a portable toilet in the yard of a portable toilet business in the 2200 block of S. Buchanan.

Taylor was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on preliminary charges of robbery and evading arrest on foot and in a vehicle. He is currently on parole for two robbery charges, one in Potter Co. In 2000 and one in Hale County in 2004.
