AMARILLO,TEXAS -- Amarillo police arrest three would be burglars. Just before one Tuesday morning, officers were called to the area of Bivins and Crook on a report of shots fired.

When they arrived officers located a vehicle that matched the description of a possible suspect's. As the officer was walking up to the car, the suspects took off. A chase ensued, and a black male jumped from the vehicle as it was moving. That suspect has not been located. The suspects remaining in the car were seen throwing things out the window.

One suspect had a white ski mask. Spike strips were deployed in the Eastridge area, and the vehicle was disabled.

Two of the suspects ran on foot, but were caught within a half block. The third was apprehended at the vehicle.

Officers recovered a loaded AK-47 style rifle that a suspect had thrown out of the vehicle during the pursuit. Ammunition, loaded magazines for the rifle, and other items were recovered from the vehicle and booked.

Investigation revealed the suspects were attempting to do a home invasion robbery.

The suspects who were caught and arrested are Cory Deshone Malone, 18, Malcolm Deshun Brown, 17, and Michael Curtis Hayes, 19. Police say others were involved but they have not been captured at this time. The suspects haven't been charged with any offenses stemming from other recent robberies. This case is still under investigation, as are the other recent robberies.
