TEXLINE,TEXAS -- According to the National Weather Service at least three tornadoes touched down in our viewing area Sunday night.
The NWS says there may have been more, but they are waiting on more information before they can confirm them.
There were a total of 13 warnings Sunday night, 5 of which were tornado warnings.
Some of those tornadoes touched down near Texline and Clayton, New Mexico causing extensive damage.
As of right now, a dollar amount of the damage done hasn't been declared. The outskirts of Texline and surrounding areas were dealt a hard blow, as about 20 irrigation systems are either twisted scraps of metal or have been turned upside down.
Along with the irrigation systems there are downed power lines, uprooted trees, and a feedlot that felt the wrath of mother nature.
Texline Mayor Brad Riley explains how it felt to see a tornado for the first time.
"The stuff during the daytime wasn't bad, because we could see where it was at, and people were still watching T.V. and everybody had a good idea of what was going on, but the one that came through after dark got everybody's attention."
Riley along with area residents took shelter in a nearby church basement.
