CLOVIS, N.M. -- A while back the racetrack in Ruidoso announced that the Ruidoso Downs Track may be moving. At the time, the President of the track, Ann McGovern had said the track and its slot machines in the casino were losing money.

Now the City of Clovis has submitted a business proposal to be considered as a possible location should the Ruidoso race track and casino decide to move.

The Clovis News Journal reports that Chase Gentry, executive director of Clovis Indstrial Development Corporation, confirmed that the proposal was submitted in April.

Mayor Gayla Brumfield said racetrack officials approached Clovis, along with several other communities, in considering the possibility of relocation.

Brumfield said the proposal was a standard response often given to businesses looking at the community as a possible location of operations and includes information about what the area can do for them from an economic development standpoint.
