POTTER CO., TEXAS -- A man was killed Tuesday after he was hit by a semi on US 87. According to the Department of Public Safety, around 5:45, 11 miles north of Amarillo, Carl Walker Hardesty Jr.,56, of Oklahoma City, exited a vehicle that was parked on the shoulder of US 87 northbound. Hardesty got of the vehicle to grab a shirt that had blown into the road, when he was struck by a semi truck. A Nissan was traveling behind the semi and also hit Hardesty.
Hardesty was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
