AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Hot dog stands are a downtown staple, from New York City to Los Angeles, and now in Amarillo, Texas.  A new family-owned stand makes whatever you like to order. From Chicago-style to New York- style and even for those of you who like ketchup.

ProNews 7's Nastassia Tamari said these wieners are all winners. "You can have a dog so many different ways," said Crestina Rodriguez, from JDawg's Hot Dog Stand. And that's just what JDawg's delivers.

The brand new hot dog stand on Polk street offers Chicago-style, New York-style, European-style (with spicy brown deli mustard) and even just plain, with ketchup. I ordered a Chicago-style. It comes on a poppy seed bun and is topped with yellow mustard, chopped white onions, sweet pickle relish, a dill pickle, tomatoes, and pickled sport peppers, and a dash of celery salt.

"It's American!" said Rodriguez, and it's also good. The idea for the hot dog stand came from a member of the family. Their son is a professional boxer who traveled to different cities and wanted to bring those flavors back home. "It's so urban, this is so great.  Now you can just walk out of the office, come and get a great lunch and go back.  It's great because it just gives more life on the sidewalks," said Beth Duke from Center City.

"We wanted to be in the heart of Amarillo," said Rodriguez. And, as everyone knows, you get to the heart through the stomach.

If you want to try one of those dogs, the stand is open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can find it on the northwest corner of the parking lot across from Crush.

It's also open 9 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights.
