Warrant issued in Amarillo shooting

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Amarillo police have identified a suspect in the shooting that happened back in October on 11th and N. Lincoln.

Officers were called to the intersection on October 27th around 6:00 p.m., there they found Joey Garcia, 28, lying in the street. When officers arrived witnesses at the scene were rendering first aid. Garcia had one gun shot wound to the chest, according to police. Garcia was taken to the hospital, we are told his injuries are no longer considered life threatening.

Initially, police were told the victim was speaking to another male in an SUV that had stopped at the intersection. Witnesses told police the man in the SUV fired one shot from a handgun and then the suspect took off.

On November 23, investigators filed a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against Mikko Lejon Daniels, 26. Police said they do not know where Daniels is and that he has not been arrested.

Investigators are asking anyone with information on the location of Daniels to contact the Amarillo Police Department or Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 374-4400.
