AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Potter County Commissioners voted Monday to place the county under a burn ban. That outlaws any outdoor burning until the ban is lifted or allowed to expire.

Potter County joins the growing list of counties in Texas that have placed bans on outdoor burning.

Commissioners also expressed concern some might be considering popping off fireworks during their New Year's celebrations and wanted to have a ban in place.

The following counties in the Texas Panhandle currently have bans in place: Moore, Castro, Deaf Smith, Hemphill, Oldham, Union and Wheeler.
