AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Two men whose lives were impacted by the 2007 Virginia Tech shootings are fighting efforts to allow concealed handguns in Texas college classrooms.

Colin Goddard was shot four times in a Virginia Tech classroom the day a shooter killed 32 people. John Woods' girlfriend was among those killed. Together they are asking Texas lawmakers to reject efforts to allow concealed handgun license owners to carry their weapons into campus buildings.

Supporters call it a self-defense measure. Goddard and Woods say more guns will make campuses more dangerous.

A similar version passed the state Senate in 2009. This year, more than 80 lawmakers in the 150-member House have already signed on as coauthors.

About a dozen states are considering similar measures.

What do you think? Should guns be allowed on college campuses? State your opinion in the comments, and vote in our web poll below.
