AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Austin Lynn Stephens, 52, was arrested for Criminal Trespassing after he allegedly started the Potter County fire Sunday, Sheriff Brian Thomas said.

Thomas explained Stephens was trespassing on private property grinding metal when the fire started. He was cutting pipe in a place he did not have access to. Officials found Stephens near the Command Center when someone pointed him out.

The fire started one mile north of the Command Center which is near St. Francis and Amarillo Street. The fire burned 61,000 acres and 29-34 houses were burned.
