AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The public will get their chance to weigh in on the re-development of Downtown Amarillo tomorrow.

Starting tomorrow and going until next Thursday, Wallace Bejalli Development and Downtown Amarillo Inc. will be hosting public meetings to update people on the progress of downtown.

"We're in the process of selecting all the team members, the architect, the engineer, potential operator of a hotel, potential operator of a multipurpose event venue, so that we can assemble the team and go through this overall process. What it's going to cost, where's the capitol going to come from, all of those type decisions," says David Wallace.

One things that wallace does guarantee is that the architect will be one of Amarillo's own.

"The architect that we are selecting will be from Amarillo and as we continue this process having folks from the local government corporation, having others that're here that going to be a part of this interview process, a part of this vetting process, I think it's wonderful to get local input as we're making these final decisions."

These mettings Wallace says are also for the public to gain an understanding more about them as a developer and the overall process they are going through, as well as finding out what the public wants to see in a vibrant downtown.

"At all the public meetings it's not just about the people sitting in a chair learning from us, it's us learning from the community, as to what they want to see."

Wallace says they just want to make sure that when people are talking about this in the community that they're talking the facts and that this is an oppurtunity to communicate with folks in Amarillo.

Mellisa Dailey of Downtown Amarillo Inc. says that these meetings will be in all four quadrants of Amarillo as well as one downtown.

The meetings will be tomorrow at 6:00 at The Happy State Bank building, 701 S. Taylor St.

Monday at 6:30 at Forest Hill Elementary, 3515 E. Amarillo Blvd.

Tuesday at 6:30 at San Jacinto Elementary, 3500 SW 4th Ave.

Wednesday at 6:30 at Tradewind Elementary, 4300 S. Williams St.

Thursday at 6:30 at Puckett Elementary, 6700 Oakhurst Dr.
