Bell Helicopter transfers 100 jobs to Amarillo

A bit of good news for the Amarillo economy. About 100 jobs are headed to Amarillo.

According to the Fort Worth Star-TelegramBell Helicopter informed about 100 of its Fort Worth employees that their jobs are being moved to the Panhandle city of Amarillo. Pronews 7 was able to confirm this.

The job positions are buyers of parts and materials for the V-22 Osprey and H- 1 model helicopters that are produced in Amarillo.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram says the jobs are moving to Amarillo to help reduce costs and increase efficiency in Amarillo. The move will occur between now and the end of the year.

Affected employees are represented by United Auto Workers Local 317. No relocation assistance will be offered to workers.

The jobs are open and can be applied for.

Bell Helicopter in Amarillo employs about 1,000 employees.
